Cape Coral, FL (October 29, 2026) – The Cape Coral Fire Department said a single-vehicle crash injured two people on the morning of October 29. The crash happened at Del Prado Blvd. and Hancock Bridge Parkway.

Cape Fire said the vehicle damaged the traffic light control box, which left the lights inoperable. The crash also damaged a traffic signal and caused delays, and officials asked drivers to avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Reports so far do not say how seriously the two people were hurt, what type of vehicle was involved, or what caused the crash.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

What to Do After a Single-Vehicle Crash in Cape Coral, FL

Florida’s no-fault law sets a short window for medical benefits. Personal injury protection coverage generally applies only if treatment starts within 14 days of the crash (Fla. Stat. § 627.736). Because the cause has not been announced, anyone hurt, including passengers, should work through these steps in order.

  1. Get checked and start treatment by November 12, 2026. That is 14 days after the crash, and whiplash, concussion, and internal injuries can surface days later.
  2. Preserve what disappears first. Photograph the vehicle, the road surface, and the signal before repairs, and ask the tow yard to hold the vehicle.
  3. Report to your own insurer, then be careful. Do not give a recorded statement to another insurer or sign a release before talking with an attorney.
  4. Find out who may share responsibility. That depends on what investigators examine, such as the road surface, signage, lighting, tire or brake failure, weather, or a vehicle that left the scene. Passengers can generally claim against the driver’s insurance.
  5. Calendar the filing deadline. Florida generally allows two years for a negligence claim (Fla. Stat. § 95.11), which puts it at October 29, 2028. If fault is shared, recovery is reduced by the claimant’s share, and a claimant more than 50% at fault recovers nothing (Fla. Stat. § 768.81(6)).
